Not So Deep Thoughts by a Happy Engineer

Twins, RefluxRaft, and Pushing Pearls into Poop

Written by Bill Payne | Feb 4, 2024 10:55:51 PM

I recently read a book titled "The Curse of the High IQ" by Aaron Clarey.  Ok, Ok... I listened to it... on my way to see my twin brother Spencer for the Holidays.  Spencer is a genius.  Actually smarter.  The average IQ is around 100.  A high IQ would be around two standard deviations above the mean, or around 120.  A low IQ, or people with learning disabilities, have IQ's that are below two standard deviations, or less than 80 to make the math simple for guys like me, on the left side of my brother on the curve.  Aaron Clarey reports that "Genius" is at 130.  I'll add that "Freak of Nature" is the small part of the curve North of 140 where my brother lives in lonely intellectual company.

What I had to accept was that Spencer's experience talking to me, generously supposing for this blog that I have a High IQ of 120, was like that of an average person talking to someone with a learning disability, formerly referred to as mental retardation.

This explains my sense of humor.  My brother would always be smarter, so I decided to be funnier.

Spencer is a pioneer and thought leader in both traditional and holistic medicine and is a nationally recognized Expert Witness and Key Opinion Leader "KOL" in his field.  I'm still funnier.  So when I recently saw a LinkedIn post for a product he developed, I had to weigh in as only I could, and then share the same with my loving family.

From the RefluxRaft Website: Enhanced Alginate Therapy is a breakthrough area in effectively offering temporary relief from acid reflux, while also delivering other natural healing remedies. Instead of stomach acid inhibiting drugs (like proton pump inhibitors), which don’t improve the reflux component of acid reflux, alginate therapy makes it possible to find relief through natural supplements for heartburn and other reflux symptoms. It works by creating a raft that sits on top of stomach contents, coating the stomach and esophagus with a soothing gel that prevents digestive acid and enzymes from moving up the esophagus.

My original comment [edited was simply:

"Spencer Payne, you know I'd rather tease you as my smarter twin, but other than this being a horrible picture of you, I am happy to tell your audience this stuff works, as I've seen from my exe's, my kids, and even one of my favorite restaurant owners after you hijacked the conversation. Just kidding, it came up organically, and while I still have no idea what you do or what you know, I can honestly say I've seen this product change lives with sincerity. Now get a better picture taken."

My younger but also smarter brother Tom, who may have the best humor in the family, commented in a family text with the following:

Wow Bill, you really pushed the pearls into the poop with that "Compliment"....

...Which really made me laugh.  And which also green lighted the following text, not to be undone:

I have 2,000 followers, 551 impressions of my posts in the past 7 days and 244 unique profile views in the last month, on LinkedIn.  I have a reputation to protect but "Pushing pearls into poop" is making it to the list of services on my website. Spencer has 582 followers. That was a really big Pearl in a much smaller poo... according to LinkedIn.  That's a word picture that will be hard to deny once you realize where the poo may still be.

I am very proud of my family, my brothers, my sister, my cousins, my aunts and my uncles who all continue to rally together during the challenges families face.  I can honestly say that all of them change lives for the better which motivates me on a daily basis more than you know.
